With 2023 almost at its halfway point, many of our car tours have toted a fancy new feature: car massagers. Yes, you read that right. Cars with massage seats are becoming the new hot feature you can upgrade, but is it worth the splurge?

Before you dismiss the idea as a far-fetched dream, let me assure you cars with massage seats are indeed a reality. For the longest time, we were only seeing massage seats available in sports cars, but demand started to grow for SUVs and sedans to include this luxurious feature too.
As families are spending an increased amount of time in their vehicles, car manufacturers have responded by introducing massage seats as an optional feature in some of their most beloved SUV models. While not super common yet, my bet is we will continue to see these seats take over the car market in the next decade.
Are Massage Seats Safe To Drive With?
As a mom, my first thought after hearing cars with massage seats exist is if they’re safe for the road- I know many of you were thinking the same too. The answer is yes massage seats are safe, but you have to still be mindful.
Massage seats often come with both heating and vibration options. Both are wonderful when parked or driving in a low-traffic area, but pose the risk of distracted driving if left on for too long.
That being said, luxury additions in cars are meticulously tested with every potential safety hazard and given a stamp of approval before released to consumers. The risk of danger is small, but still requires being alert to your body becoming too relaxed. Never thought I’d say that as a bad thing!

It’s really exciting to see a range of brands, from luxury to more mainstream, available with massage seat features. It’s a clear sign that so many of us are excited about this add-on feature, meaning we will see it included in more family cars soon.

Since this is an add-on feature, the price for cars with massage seats will be more than the base price listed on the website. I can estimate $2,000 extra is the ballpark price for upgrading typical car seats to include massage features, but there is room to fluctuate depending on which brand you buy from,
Are Cars With Massage Seats Worth It?
If you find yourself spending more and more time in a car and are looking to upgrade, cars with massage seats are an excellent option! They are extremely comfortable, customizable, and are perfect if you’re feeling tense but still have a long drive ahead.
This feature can only be found in newer car models, but we will see it slowly expand as popularity grows. That being said, finding this feature straight off the lot is still uncommon, so ordering it in advance may be required.
