2022 Chevy Silverado High Country

A truck might not be the first car you think of being perfect for a mom, but I think it’s time to normalize trucks for moms. In this Chevy Silverado we have maybe the widest bench I’ve ever seen, tons of interior luxury, and plenty of room to throw every stroller you have in the bed.

I like that Chevy has a tried and true look to the exterior of their cars, and this Chevy Silverado is no exception. It has some great lines and I love the chrome detailing with the High Country trim level.

Front Row

Jumping into the front seat, this Chevy Silverado feels so high end. This High Country trim level is so elevated. The navy blue leather seats look and feel so good. It definitely does not feel like a rugged truck. In the door I have three cup holders but none of them are big enough to fit my water bottle. But the cup holders are just about the only thing in this truck that is disappointing.

In the high Country trim level I have just about every driver amenity available. There is heads-up display, a fully digital and customizable dash, rearview camera in the rearview mirror, a Bose sound system, and Super Cruise–Chevy’s semi-autonomous driving technology. It’s not officially self driving, but it’s pretty close. I’ve used it driving down the freeway here in St. Louis and it’s some pretty wild technology.

The infotainment system is incredibly user friendly and integrates in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are several buttons pulled out of the screen, including a button that rolls down all the windows at once—perfect for when you get into a hot car and the kids are all complaining they need air. Under the screen, we have UCB and USBC outlets, two large cup holders, some good cubby spaces, and a wireless charger. The center console is nice sized with more USB, USBC outlets, and a 12 volt.

Second Row

The second row of this Chevy Silverado is huge and has one of the widest bench seats I’ve ever seen. There are three full seats back here and my three Clek car seats fit with plenty of room. Taking out one car seat and climbing in there is plenty knee and head clearance for a full-size adult. As far as back seat amenities, I have USB and USBC outlets and nice sized door cubbies and door cup holders, but the world’s tiniest vents. This might be my only knock on this car. We’re going to need some more ventilation back here.

Car Seat Set Up

Trucks can get tricky for car seats because of the lack of tether anchors, but this Chevy Traverse is equipped with three tether anchors across the bench seat. I was easily able to install my three carseats across the bench

Trunk

Since this is a truck, let’s call this the truck bed section instead of the trunk. The tailgate alone on his Chevy Silverado is awesome. It’s power controlled so it lowers down on its own and then with two more buttons it folds down to create a step into the truck bed that doubles great as a seat for soccer games. The truck bed has several tie downs, lights and a standard outlet. You can fit any stroller you want back here. Space is not an issue.

Trim

The Chevy Silverado features nine different trim levels, with the High Country being close to the top. Apart from driver luxuries like heads-up display and the power tailgate in the higher trim levers, the main differences in the Silverado’s trim levels are the engine types and sizes.

I think it’s time we start normalizing trucks as mom cars. With benches wider than any SUV bench, trucks are great kid and gear haulers. And this Chevy Silverado definitely proves trucks aren’t just tough and rugged, but also high-end and luxurious.
