2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport
Today, I have a really great option for those of you interested in a smaller vehicle that still works great for families. The newly redesigned 2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport is packed full of great tech and space inside, all for a starting price of $32,000 MSRP.

2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport Exterior
The newly redesigned 2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport is technically called a subcompact SUV and it’s by far one of the most competitive markets. I was surprised to find out that of all the models in Subaru’s lineup, the CrossTrek is their best seller. That means there are a lot of families out there who use and love this vehicle for their daily commute.
In this walkthrough, I am touring the Sport trim level, so there are small details that the base model will not include, but overall I will be basing the majority of my walkthrough on CrossTrek’s as a whole.
Looking at the side profile, you can really see the in between wagon and sedan shape. The functional roof rack is not just for looks, but you can actually put things on top of it. If you’re an outdoorsy family, a camper can even fit on top.
2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport First Row Details
I’ll be honest, you don’t have the most luxurious materials on the inside of the vehicle. There is a bit of this faux soft leather throughout along with a fake looking carbon fiber. Also, I wanted to mention the seats on this model are not available in leather, but in certain other CrossTreks you can. I’m never mad about seeing cloth seats, I think they hold up so much better with kids than leather. There is a leather wrapped steering wheel though.
Center console is quite nice and large, along with a USB and USB-C ports, two cup holders, and heated seats. Overall, my driver’s comfort level is good and as someone almost six feet tall, I have great head clearance in such a compact vehicle
Infotainment System
The infotainment system screen is huge, especially for the size of this car. I would be lying if I said Subaru’s infotainment systems are my favorite, they’re a little clunky and outdated, but still a nice big touch screen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
All the climate control is integrated into the screen, except for temperature, which adds to a bit of the clunkiness for me. As many of you know, I prefer when climate controls are pulled out of the system just so it’s a bit easier to use and you don’t have to worry about little things, such as the screen breaking.
2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport Second Row Details
Being a 5 passenger SUV, we have three seats in the second row and as far as hardware is concerned, there’s five lower anchors and three tether anchors. So, what does that mean car seat setup wise? Five lower anchors doesn’t mean much. You have two on the outboard seats and one in the middle. With the three tether anchors, I was able to fit three car seats across using the Graco Slim Fit 3LX. Certain car seat combinations may be more tricky back here, especially if you’re working with boosters that need access to the buckle. The buckles are a bit rigid, so it isn’t super easy to finagle.
All that great head room in the front is not as available in the second row because of the vehicle’s shape. Granted I am very tall, but it is more of a squeeze to have two car seats and a passenger. That being said, if you’re looking for an affordable SUV that can fit three across in a pinch, it’s a good option to consider.
2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport Trunk Details
This is a hot take, but I hate when trunks don’t have a power tailgate. I’d rather give up heated seats over a power tailgate any day. As for the space of the trunk, it’s just okay. I am able to fit a Mockingbird stroller in certain directions, but it’s tight. I do really appreciate the mats and cargo cover in the back, along with the windshield wiper on the back window.
2024 Subaru CrossTrek Sport Wrap Up
Overall, I am very impressed with the CrossTrek’s ability to be a family vehicle. Although it’s small, Subaru really uses the space well for the most part. I’d love a bit more head room in the second row particularly, but that just means I would have to shop for a different vehicle size and shape.
