The Car Mom Emergency Kit | Car Must Haves

Today, I want to talk about a topic that is near and dear to my heart as a parent: car emergency kits. As a mom, it's crucial to be prepared for any unexpected situation while we're on the road with our little ones! Emergencies and accidents happen, so let's make sure we're ready and prepared for everything.

Emergency Kit Essentials

I always like keeping a dedicated emergency kit in my car at all times! Since I switch cars frequently, I find it convenient to store everything in a duffle bag in my trunk. However, if trunk space is limited, you can always utilize other storage compartments like the center console, glove box, or hidden trunk storage. The key is to have easy access to the essentials whenever you need them. Hopefully you never really have to use this kit, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!

Let's talk about the true emergency kit! This is the one that covers the basics for any unexpected situation on the road. Here are some must-haves that I keep in my kit:

  1. First Aid Supplies: Always have band-aids, antiseptic wipes, gauze pads, adhesive tape, and any necessary medication for your family members.

  2. Flashlight and Extra Batteries: You never know when you might find yourself in the dark, so a reliable flashlight and spare batteries are a must.

  3. Blankets and Extra Clothes: Having warm blankets and spare clothes in the car can be a lifesaver, especially during colder seasons or if you're stranded for an extended period of time.

  4. Non-perishable Snacks and Water: Keep some energy bars, granola bars, or dried fruit in your kit, along with a few bottles of water. These can come in handy during unexpected delays or when you're unable to find food on the road.

  5. Jumper Cables and Basic Toolkit: Car troubles can happen at any time, so having jumper cables and a basic toolkit can help you get back on the road quicker or at least flag down assistance.

Mom Emergency Kit

We can’t forget about the "Mom Emergency Kit”. As moms, we know that our little ones can unexpectedly cause situations that need immediate attention! Here are some additional items I keep handy ALWAYS:

  1. Wet wipes and Tissues: Trust me, you can never have enough of these. They're perfect for spills, sticky fingers, and those unexpected messes that seem to happen at the most inconvenient times. I’m sure you all can relate!!

  2. Diapers, Wipes, and a Change of Clothes: Even if your child is potty-trained, accidents happen. Be prepared for diaper blowouts or spills by keeping these items in your car.

  3. Motion Sickness Remedies: If your child is prone to car sickness, keep some motion sickness medication or natural remedies like ginger candies or wristbands in your kit.

  4. Extra Plastic Bags: These versatile bags can be used for trash, wet clothes, or any other unexpected needs.

  5. Small Toys or Activities: Having a few small toys, books, or coloring materials can be a great distraction during long car rides or when you need to keep your little ones entertained. Thank me later for this one!
